Switchblade

Switchblade is an action platformer originally developed by Core Design for the Amiga and later ported to the Sega Mega Drive by Piko Interactive. The game follows a warrior on a mission to restore peace by recovering the shattered fragments of a sacred fireblade, which have been scattered across underground labyrinths.

The gameplay is built around interconnected maze-like levels filled with enemies, traps, and hidden areas. Players explore branching paths, break destructible blocks to uncover bonuses, and carefully manage movement to survive. The Mega Drive version stands out as a solid port, preserving the structure of the original while offering stable performance. Interestingly, the release itself has an unusual history, as it was initially tied to a cancelled action figure Kickstarter campaign, with the game cartridge intended as a bonus reward.
