Jim Power: The Lost Dimension is a genre-blending action game originally developed for the Amiga in 1992 and later ported to the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. A Sega Mega Drive version was also planned during the early 1990s but ended up cancelled late in development. Decades later, Piko Interactive acquired the rights and completed the unfinished port for a physical release in 2021.
The game mixes traditional action-platforming with horizontal shooter stages, constantly shifting gameplay styles throughout the adventure. Visually, it strongly reflects its Amiga origins, featuring colorful and highly detailed backgrounds that look impressive but can also make the screen feel cluttered, especially during shooter segments. The soundtrack stands out as one of the game’s strongest elements, with memorable compositions that significantly enhance the atmosphere. Despite its high difficulty, the challenge generally feels fair, encouraging repeated attempts and gradual improvement rather than pure frustration.
