Metal Dragon is a top-down run-and-gun shooter developed by Kai Magazine Software for the Sega Mega Drive, heavily inspired by classics like Commando and Mercs, with a tongue-in-cheek tone reminiscent of Metal Gear. Originally released for the MSX2 in 2021, it was later enhanced and brought to the Mega Drive with improved visuals, controls, and a full cartridge release.
The gameplay blends non-stop action with short, stylized cutscenes delivered through radio dialogue, creating a fast-paced rhythm that keeps the player engaged. You’ll blast through enemy bases, dodge tanks and helicopters, and mow down waves of soldiers, all while enjoying a surprisingly catchy soundtrack. Despite its retro limitations, the game keeps things moving with tight controls and consistently escalating chaos.
