Rocket Panda is a charming yet deceptively tricky action game for the Sega Mega Drive. At first glance it looks like a cute shoot ’em up, but beneath its cheerful visuals lies a gameplay loop focused on precision and physics-based movement. Players control a rocket-powered panda who must carefully maneuver through gravity-filled stages, avoiding spikes, traps, and environmental hazards while collecting keys to unlock exits.
Each level also features enemies that can shot you down, and you also must avoid it. Scattered around are three badger friends to rescue — saving them all adds a light challenge reminiscent of Flicky. Boss fights appear at the end of each world, simple but satisfying. While the game’s mechanics and level design offer some replay value, it’s ultimately more of a short and sweet experience than a deep one.
