Insane Pain is a rare example of a modern fighting game developed for the Sega Mega Drive. Released as a homebrew title, it features a gritty post-apocalyptic setting, a small but distinct roster of characters, and an original soundtrack that fits the game’s heavy atmosphere. Visually, the game uses a muted color palette and bold character sprites that give it a raw, underground feel.
The gameplay follows the classic 1v1 fighting game structure, with basic combos and jump attacks doing most of the heavy lifting. While not particularly deep or balanced, it’s accessible even to those who don’t usually play fighters. Most opponents can be beaten with simple corner traps and repeated moves, even on the highest difficulty, making it more of a curiosity than a competitive title — but an interesting one nonetheless.
