Last Defence is a simple horizontal shoot ’em up developed for the Sega Mega Drive, most likely by a solo creator. While the gameplay is rather basic, the project stands out for its unexpectedly detailed storytelling and visual presentation. The narrative is conveyed through text sequences and well-crafted images that set a surprisingly serious tone for a homebrew release.
As a pilot in humanity’s final stand against alien invaders, you’ll fly through straightforward stages, destroy waves of enemies, and try to survive long enough to push back the invasion. There’s not much mechanical depth or variety — weapons, enemies, and level layouts remain largely the same throughout — but the concept and atmosphere show genuine passion behind the project.
