Hunter Girls is an unusual release for the Sega Mega Drive, built around the rarely seen runner genre. Originally launched on Steam in 2021, the game was ported to Mega Drive in 2023 by PSCD Games. Due to publishing issues, it was later re-released for free under the name Battle Women. Despite the rocky release history, the Mega Drive version remains a fully playable and distinctive indie title.
Players control a group of continuously running combat heroines, each specializing in a different combat style — melee, ranged attacks, or magic. The game emphasizes pattern recognition and muscle memory rather than reflex-heavy platforming, making it closer to a rhythm-action experience than a traditional action game.
