Rick Dangerous DX

Rick Dangerous DX is a fan-made port of the enhanced Amiga remake of Rick Dangerous, brought to the Sega Mega Drive in 2025 by Z-team. The Amiga remake itself, released in 2023, was based on the extended Nintendo Wii version of the game, which featured expanded content and quality-of-life improvements. This DX release should not be confused with earlier Mega Drive ports of Rick Dangerous and Rick Dangerous 2 by Pascal-O-Rama and Alekmaul, respectively — the DX version offers better control and smoother play.

Gameplay follows the classic Rick Dangerous formula: a puzzle-platformer filled with traps, enemies, and precision jumps. The biggest improvement over older ports is that jumping is mapped to a dedicated button rather than requiring an upward press on the D-pad, making the game feel more responsive. It remains a short and simple title, beatable in around 30 minutes after some practice. However, the DX port has a few bugs, including disappearing platforms and invisible walls, and, like the Amiga version, it lacks in-game music.
