Lost in the 90s

P-47 II MD

P-47 II MD: The Freedom Star is a long-lost horizontal shoot-’em-up originally developed by NMK for arcades, but never released. Decades later, the game was restored and completed in collaboration with the original developers, and officially published by Retro-Bit for the Sega Mega Drive. As a direct sequel to P-47: The Phantom Fighter, it retains an authentic arcade look and feel.

You pilot a fighter plane equipped with both main and auxiliary weapons, blasting through enemy formations while collecting power-ups for both firing systems. The game also includes a bomb mechanic that clears the screen but at the cost of one health bar segment. Each level offers new backgrounds, mid-bosses, and intense boss fights. While the game is polished and fast-paced, it’s also short and features limited weapon variety, making it more of a nostalgic hit than a deep experience.
