Invasion

Invasion or The First Invasion is a homebrew tribute to the legacy of Space Invaders-style games. Rather than recreating a specific version, it offers a nostalgic mix of gameplay modes and retro-style visuals that recall the early days of arcade shooters. Created as a side project to test the old Psygnosis Mega Drive development kit, the game also served as a personal benchmark for building a full game using classic Sega hardware and tools.

The full release includes six game variations and a two-player mode, with each mode adding slight mechanical or visual differences to the core gameplay loop. While it’s a sincere homage, the limited depth, rough performance, and repetitive pacing make it feel more like a tech demo than a fully fleshed-out shooter.
