Lost in the 90s

Bill’s Tomato Game

Bill’s Tomato Game is an unreleased Sega Mega Drive puzzle game that was originally developed by Tempest Software and intended to be published by Psygnosis. Although the game never officially launched during the console’s lifespan, it eventually surfaced online and became accessible to retro gaming fans. Its quirky style, humorous animations, and original premise make it a standout among 16-bit puzzlers.

The gameplay centers around launching a tomato named Bill across increasingly complex levels filled with traps, fans, springs, conveyor belts, and other contraptions. Before starting each level, you’re tasked with placing these objects in the right spots to guide Bill safely to the goal. If your setup is wrong, Bill will either splatter or get stuck. The game offers 80 levels and features a password system, which is helpful because the stages tend to blur together and can get repetitive over time.
