Sacred Line Genesis

Sacred Line Genesis is an independent visual novel for the Sega Mega Drive, developed by Sasha Darko and released in 2015. Unlike most homebrew titles, it focuses on a surreal horror story rather than action or platforming. The game features black-and-white digitized visuals, atmospheric music, and a narrative-driven experience that sets it apart from traditional 16-bit releases.

Players follow Ellen, a private detective who stumbles upon a dark conspiracy while investigating a missing person case. The gameplay consists of text-based choices that influence the story, alongside occasional first-person exploration segments. While the eerie atmosphere and unsettling imagery create a unique experience, the slow pacing, trial-and-error mechanics, and lack of meaningful interaction limit its replay value.
